Today, The Living Wage Foundation announced the new pay rates, which are £12.60 per hour across the UK and £13.85 per hour in London. This is a 5% and 5.3% increase respectively since last December.

The new rates rise to £12.60 per hour across the UK which is a 60p increase. In London, however, the new rates rise to £13.85 per hour, which is a 70p increase. The 5% and 5.3% increase respectively reflects the persistently high costs for low-paid workers.

The new rates bring an additional £2,262 per year to full-time workers working for a Living Wage employer. In London, full-time workers with the new real Living Wage rates expect to earn an additional £4,700 per year. These figures are compared to the legal minimum wage set by the UK government.
